Star Squid

Top-down arcade space shooter — one robotic squid vs. the swarms of deep space

The Void Kraken boss holding the top of the screen over a violet nebula, raining bullets
Every 15th wave the VOID KRAKEN takes the top of the screen — and holds it until one of you dies.

The Game

Waves with a shape Enemies don't just fall — they arrive in formations: V-wedges, snaking columns, lines that sweep the screen edge to edge, pincers that hover and dive one by one, rotating rings, slow armored walls. Anything that slips past the bottom loops back to the top and tries again.
Three weapons to hunt Powerups swap your energy weapon: a wide tri-spread, a piercing ion lance that skewers whole columns, and homing seeker orbs. Grab the same one again to level it up to 3 — but die, and you're back to the pulse gun.
Shields and a free life Temporary shields block shots and rams for eight seconds. And somewhere out there is the rarest drop of all: a free life — never more than one per wave, so when you see it, go get it.
Space keeps changing Every 3 waves the fight drifts somewhere new: open star systems with distant suns and ringed planets, crimson and azure nebulae, and meteor fields where real, destructible rocks tumble through the play field.
The Void Kraken Every 15th wave, a giant corrupted mirror of your own ship takes the top of the screen: aimed fans, rotating bullet rings, and bullet rain. Sometimes it lifts off the top of the screen for a breath — it always comes back. Kill it for a guaranteed free life, a shield, and a fat score bonus.
Honest retro craft Additive-glow visuals, momentum that feels like piloting, every sound effect synthesized by the game's own code — no asset packs, one hand-written C++ program, tiny download.
