Terms & disclaimer
Legal
The terms that apply to anything you download from Iron Pixel Games — games and tools alike. Written to be read, not to be skipped.
Disclaimer and limitation of liability
We test our software before we release it — on real projects, with real assets, on real hardware. We take that seriously, and when something is broken we want to know about it.
What we cannot do is test every combination of operating system version, engine version, driver, project layout, and asset in existence. Nobody can. So the software is offered honestly, on these terms:
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL IRON PIXEL GAMES BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES, OR OTHER LIABILITY, WHETHER IN AN ACTION OF CONTRACT, TORT, OR OTHERWISE, ARISING FROM, OUT OF, OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE SOFTWARE OR ITS USE. THIS INCLUDES, WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES; LOST PROFITS, LOST REVENUE, OR LOST BUSINESS; AND LOSS OR CORRUPTION OF DATA, PROJECTS, ASSETS, OR WORK, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGE.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of certain liabilities. Where that is the case, the above applies to the fullest extent permitted, and nothing here limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Back up your work
Said plainly, because it matters more than any clause above: keep backups of your projects and source files before running any tool over them, ours included. Our tools are built not to modify your source projects and to write output to a folder you choose — but a backup is simply how you should treat any software that touches work you care about.
Licence to use our software
Our downloads are free. This is what that means in practice.
You may
- Use it for anything — personal projects, hobby work, commercial work, work you are paid for, and projects you sell.
- Install it on as many computers as you like.
- Keep everything you make with it. Whatever our tools produce is yours. We claim no ownership of it and ask for no royalty, share, or credit.
- Make copies for your own backup or internal use.
You may not, without our written permission
- Sell, rent, lease, sublicense, or charge any fee for our software.
- Redistribute it, in whole or in part, free or paid — including re-uploading to other download sites, mirrors, app stores, or file-sharing services. Please link to the official page instead, so people get the current version.
- Bundle it into another product, tool, asset pack, course, or package.
- Remove or alter any copyright, licence, or attribution notice.
If you want to do any of the restricted things, just ask. Permission is often given, and asking costs you nothing.
Assets you convert
This applies to Asset Bridge and any tool of ours that processes files you supply.
Our tools convert files you provide. Doing so does not grant you any rights to those files and does not change whatever licence they came with. Converting an asset is not the same as being allowed to use it.
You are responsible for making sure you are permitted to use, convert, and distribute the assets you run through our software. Many marketplace licences do allow use outside the engine an asset was sold for — plenty of assets are sold in one engine's format while permitting use anywhere — but some do not. That is between you and whoever you obtained the assets from.
Third-party software
Our software includes open-source components, which remain under their own licences. Those licences govern those components, and nothing in our terms restricts any right they grant you.
Asset Bridge includes the Godot Engine runtime (MIT), Python (PSF Licence), Pillow (MIT-CMU), and PyYAML (MIT). The full licence text for each ships with the download as THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.txt.
We are grateful for all of it. None of those projects endorse our software, and listing them is attribution, not affiliation.
